PPG Policy Brief: The Federal Budget and WNY

Western New York faces some devastating cuts in the budget that President Obama has proposed.  The region would lose over $25 million in Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program funds, used by over 132,000 people in the region.  CDBG funds would be cut 7.5%, after a decade of decreases.  Great Lakes Restoration Initiative funds would be cut by $125 million.

PPG has released its latest policy brief, The Federal Budget and WNY, which calls on our Congressional delegation and our community to help fight for these vital funding sources.

The Federal Budget and WNY

PPG’s co-director Sam Magavern released the brief at a press conference with Brenda McDuffie, president of the Buffalo Urban League, Erin Heaney, director of the Clean Air Coalition, and Lonnie Barlow, a member of PUSH Buffalo. Read about the press conference here.
